Lyrical abstract painter or abstract landscape painter, his painting belongs to an inner world as
well as a cosmic one. Influenced by eastern philosophies, André Rouquet tries to express the
rhythms and forces which run through the Universe. For, from the infinitesimally small to the
infinitesimally big, all is vibrations, all is energies and those energies rest on
     vacuity,Tao,silence. Life is everlasting creation.

Self-introduction by the artist in a book called "Peintres et Sculpteurs d'Aquitaine" See the web page of Biography.(Never better served as by oneself)

An abstract painter who leaves imagination free, yet imperceptibly leading it towards a "watery"
     sensation.

                         Laurent Pédebernard

Forceful expression of an inner life inspired by nature

                         Jean Couraud

Rouquet obviously adores blue. The so-called cold colour which he knows how to warm up by
green or brown blendings, very rarely red ones, but he also plays with all the range of the
palette, offering himself a few dizzy spells among abysses and fathomless skies.
Water, Earth , Air -never, strangely, Fire.
In this artist, the duality wild water-mineral dominates a style which undoubtedly cannot leave
one indifferent. Rouquet has chosen a relatively abstract way to express not landscapes but the
emotion we feel in front of them..
It is strong and humble at the same time as man can be, alone facing the ocean..

                         Jean Marc Faubert

"A thousand horizons of snowy , rocky mountains, under cotton and liquorice skies.Creatures are sliding, fragile insects,  appearing suddenly, creating fractures, crevices, sea monsters."

                                        Bernadette Pélissier

"André Rouquet's paintings appear as a watery sensation in which we are  gradually immersed despite a quest in solid structure. It sails among elements and seems to engulf our vision to let it open again always in sparks from which we emerge in a saving flight towards light."

                                        Herbert Winberg

"The sea" , this primal shout you will express by watching André Rouquet's paintings..."

                                        Martine Jouany

"Each painting captivates the audience in one way or another. Its effect is largely augmented by the heavy tones and expressions which are given out, especially the heavily toned ones which really make you think.Very radiant and unique.

                                          Bobby Ann
