To believe that abstract Painting is dependent on "cooking" and chance
means not to have understood a lot.
I believe that my paintings reveal what I am that is to say roughly a romanticist
and an eastern mystic." In the east we must look for supreme Romanticism
"(F.Schlegel)
Painting is part of my existential quest. I try to express what I am :
"Become who you are" Nietzche has written.
From the technical artistic point of view, it is shown by :
-great movements, big vortexes = all is vibrations
-horizontal lines = the horizontal line suggests the infinite, the next
world.
-curved lines = they suggest water, evermoving matter, eternal life.
-pictures which seem to represent the sea- but it is the sea of my imagination,
without a model- or the chaos. This sea or this chaos = the unconscious,
the potentialities of hidden forces , the infinite, the forces which are
part of Creation.
-great empty spaces= from emptiness, according to Buddhism, comes Creation.
Being comes from No-Being. Vacuity is an anagram of God (in French Vide=Diev),
it is harmony, silence, peace, serenity, Tao from where Creation emerges.
-dominant colours :
.blue = in colour psychology, blue is a symbol of peace, infinite,
silence.
.white = vacuity,Tao.
These are a few remarks to understand my paintings. You are of course allowed
not to like my "works". Of tastes and colours..Facing a painting, one reacts
according to one's psychology, one's culture, one's level of consciousness.
One may criticize the fact that the value of my paintings is far
from my intentions. I quite agree. I don'take myself seriously or rather
I don't pretend being a genius. I am never totally satisfied with the result
and I wish I could do much better to put my vision in concrete forms.
I know very well that what I am
doing has already more or less be done. The great period of abstract art
dates from the fifties and since then, there has been the pop-Art, the Minimal
Art, the arte povera, the Conceptual art, the No-Art, the Land Art, the
Body Art, the free Figuration...I could speak a long time about these movements...
How do I paint ?
I depart from colours- vaguely knowing where I am going, I mix colours,
I let myself carry along by rhythms, inner images, forgetting the outside
world, Time which does not exist any longer. Only the Present is.
I stop when I am pleased. Sometimes after half an hour, an hour and that
is curious to notice that those more spontaneous paintings are often more
successful, sometimes after three or four hours. At times, I will need
another period of three hours or a third or a fourth.
First of all I enjoy myself. If you like it, so much he better. If you
don't, so much the worse.

My paintings are a pale echo of
torrents of light perceived in the "Hereafter" when I am sleeping or dreaming.Have
you ever made 'lucid dreams "? (Out of the Body experiment, being conscious
out of the body)

The sea, yes, it looks like the sea. Why ?
I use liquid paints -yes, cans ! So ,of course, it flows, it drops...
The sea is an image of Life
eternal life, ever reborn waves,
the horizon line symbolizes the infinite, quietness, peace, vacuity.
Life,-all is vibrations, rests on vacuity
"VIDE"(empty in French is an anagram of DIEU (God) - the Prakriti rests
on the Purusha. Cosmic manifestation on the un-manifested, Being on
Nothingness.
The Ego is an illusion. I am a wave in the cosmic Ocean and the wave
melts
in the Ocean. It belongs to It,eternally.
°°°°°°°°°°
Life is everlasting Creation. All is Creation. I only offer my little
melody,
that is all.
°°°°°°°°°
Abstract Painting is Concrete music.
°°°°°°°°°
I am not interested in the aesthetics of ugliness. Exit ! the Povera
Art,
the Dustbin art, the Pop Art, grey and dirty colours, graffitis and
some
avant-garde aesthetics. I don't care. I am not a careerist. I am not
working
to be famous, for posterity. In a thousand years, my paintings will be
just dust like the body I inhabit.
°°°°°°°°°°
I liked the "Non-Art" invented by Ben "All is art" but not his
nihilistic
point of view. The problem of No-Art is that the sensuous pleasure of
painting
disappeared. I teach what I would call "Djana art" an improved version
of No-Art which is spiritualized if you like. It consists in watching
the
outside world as if it was a painting by Van Eyck. A detached gaze,
caring,
contemplative , a "Zen" gaze , with an innocent child's eyes, a child
not
yet conditioned by society. It is fantastic. I no longer have to make
paintings.

I am an eastern mystic who paints rather than a painter interested in
eastern
philosophies. Meditation makes one creative. Painting is my way of
celebrating
life.It is a meditation.
